Alan Shapiro, professor of English and creative writing at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, will read selected passages from his books of poetry and memoirs during a reading at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 1 in Yeager Recital Hall, located in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts on the Ƶ campus. The reading is free and open to the public.
Shapiro has authored six books of poetry and two memoirs. He won the Los Angeles Times award for poetry and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
Shapiro’s reading is sponsored by the English department and the Frederick Hartmann Fund.
