President Leo M. Lambert made the Ƶ Medallion presentation at the conclusion of an evening of festivities at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on the Ƶ campus. Prior to a banquet honoring Parham, several alumni and current members of the Ƶ tennis teams put on a tennis exhibition for the large crowd on hand. Athletics Director Alan White paid tribute to Parham and his wife, Margaret, for their years of dedication to Ƶ students.
Parham has coached tennis for 38 years, including 19 at Ƶ. He has 597 career victories and won national coach of the year awards in 1977, 1979, 1985 and 1990. His teams won 11 consecutive conference titles from 1987 to 1997 and made 28 national tournament appearances. Parham is a member of five tennis halls of fame: the Wilson County Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame, the Atlantic Christian/Barton College Hall of Fame, the NAIA Hall of Fame, the NC Tennis Hall of Fame and the South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame.
