Periclean Scholars raise money for Namibian community center

Project Pericles students at Ƶ recently raised $500 for the TOV Multipurpose Center in Tsumeb, Namibia. The donation helped purchase materials for a new building that will house the center, which serves children who have been marginalized through the AIDS-related death or illness of a parent or family member.

The Periclean Scholars Class of 2006 established a relationship with the TOV Center and its project manager, Rev. Edward Amadhila. He said the donation from Ƶ has allowed workers to finish plastering work and flooring in the new center.

“Our relationship with Ƶ is so important to us, and helps us to serve more kids,” Amadhila said. “Ƶ has become one of our reliable partners in helping the helpless and voiceless children in our community, to give them hope.”

Tom Arcaro, director of Project Pericles at Ƶ, said the Periclean Scholars Class of 2009 will continue to work with the TOV Center and support its efforts.
