ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ professors, students and alumni made regional and national news in recent weeks through their research and activities, both on and off campus. Notable this fall was coverage of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Poll, the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Forest, and a new book on breast cancer recurrence by associate professor Barbara Gordon. The following list should not be considered exhaustive and does not include athletics news.

The MBA Student Alumni Association hosted a golf tournament that raised $1,000 in support of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy Dream Fund, a special budget created by the association three years ago to assist ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy with college visits, involve students in school and community projects, and help students and families when unexpected life situations arise.

Four members of the student organization Student Entrepreneurial Enterprise Development (SEED) served as student ambassadors at the inaugural D.C. Entrepreneurship Week.

Steve Schuckenbrock '82, president of Dell Global Large Enterprise, shared wisdom gleaned from his nearly 30 years in the information technology (IT) field with students, faculty and staff in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business on Nov. 12. Schuckenbrock, one of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's most accomplished business alumni, also received the 2010 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award from President Leo M. Lambert.

A recent column in The Burlington Times-News underscored the civic engagement that students in an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ journalism course perform each year.
