Two teams from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ were quarterfinalists at the Twelfth Annual Leroy R. Hassell, Sr. National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition at Regent University School of Law on October 26-27. The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ teams were comprised of third-year students Sarah Boshears, Grant Buckner, Gwendolyn Lewis, and Daniel Harris.
Boshears and Buckner also took Best Brief honors, while Lewis and Harris had the Third Best Brief.
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law has enjoyed regular success at the Regent competition, with teams finishing in the semifinals and winning best brief honors last year, as well as a second-place finish and best brief award in 2009.
Later this fall, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law will field teams in the National Moot Court Competition in Richmond, Virginia, and at the Mercer University School of Law’s Legal Ethics and Professionalism Moot Court Competition. In the spring, teams will compete at UNC-Chapel Hill, William & Mary and the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition in Washington, D.C. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ will also host the Third Annual Billings, Exum & Frye National Moot Court Competition from April 4-6, 2013.
The Regent teams were coached by Associate Dean Alan Woodlief, as well as Professors Bonnie McAlister, Jim Exum and Scott Gaylord.
