The Baird Pulitzer Prize Lecture Series

Author of the landmark trilogy “America in the King Years,” Taylor Branch visits Ƶ on Sept. 25 to discuss several watershed moments in civil rights during the time of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

His most acclaimed books include: “Parting the Waters: America in the King Years, 1954-63”; “Pillar of Fire: America in the King Years, 1963-65”; “At Canaan’s Edge: America in the King Years, 1965-1968”; “The Clinton Tapes”; and “The King Years: Historic Moments in the Civil Rights Movement.”

A native of Georgia, Branch earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Public Administration from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University.
