Geoffrey Claussen elected president of the Society of Jewish Ethics

Geoffrey Claussen, the Lori and Eric Sklut Emerging Scholar in Jewish Studies and an assistant professor in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s Department of Religious Studies, has been elected president of the Society of Jewish Ethics.

The Society of Jewish Ethics is the academic organization dedicated to scholarly work in the field of Jewish ethics. The meeting where Claussen was elected was held Jan. 8-11, 2015, in conjunction with the annual meetings of the Society of Christian Ethics and the Society for the Study of Muslims Ethics.

Claussen also serves as an associate editor of the organization’s new journal, the , which released its first issue in January 2015.

Claussen joined the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ faculty in August 2011 as an assistant professor of religious studies. In April 2012, he was named the Lori and Eric Sklut Emerging Scholar in Jewish Studies. He is also the founding director of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s Jewish Studies program, which launched in Fall 2012.
