The March 24 article in The Times-News of Burlington told the story of Sarah Rawls, a member of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy's first cohort who will begin pursuing her doctorate at Temple University this year.
As a teenager, Sarah Rawls set her sights on a career goal — becoming “Dr. Rawls.” A graduate of Williams High School in Burlington, , the college access and success program at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ that in 2016 celebrated its 10th year.

Reporter Jessica Williams with The Times-News recently connected with Rawls to learn about her story and talk about the impact that the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy has had in her academic career so far.
“When I had my ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy interview for the program, I remember saying I wanted to get my Ph.D. I didn’t know what I wanted it in, but I knew I wanted to be Dr. Rawls. … I’ve wanted to be Dr. Rawls for a while. I was like, ‘That just sounds good,’” Rawls told Williams.
