Ƶ will take on the Wofford Terriers in the first-round NCAA FBS playoff game on Saturday, Nov. 24, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The Ƶ Phoenix football team was among 14 at-large teams selected to play in the 2018 NCAA Division I FCS playoffs. Ƶ will play Wofford at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, in Spartanburg, S.C.
Earning its second-straight at-large bid to the FCS Playoffs, Ƶ football will make its third postseason appearance in its Division I history.
Ƶ finished the regular season with a 6-4 mark and a 4-3 CAA Football record. Wofford wrapped up the regular season with a 8-3 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the Southern Conference.
The winner of the Ƶ-Wofford game will advance to the second round to take on fourth-seeded Kennesaw State on Saturday, Dec. 1.
“I’m happy to have the opportunity to continue our season and I’m very proud of our football team,” said Ƶ head coach Curt Cignetti. “I’m particularly happy for our seniors. They already have an outstanding legacy and this adds to it leading this program to the first back-to-back playoff appearances in Ƶ history. While we’re not at home, we’re excited to be close to home in South Carolina and look forward to seeing Phoenix fans on the road with us next weekend.”
Ƶ is one of six CAA teams in the field this year. It is joined by regular-season champion and No. 7 national seed Maine, James Madison, Stony Brook, Towson and Delaware to set a new record for the most teams from one conference to make the field of 24.
