The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Saturday night and Sunday with significant icing expected in Alamance County. Travel may become very hazardous or impossible. Details...
Significant icing is expected across the northern Piedmont Saturday night and into Sunday. A strong low pressure system crossing the region late Saturday through Sunday night combined with cold air extending in from the north will lead to predominately freezing rain over portions of the northern Piedmont and adjacent Virginia bordering counties Saturday night and into the day on Sunday.
Ice accumulation of a quarter inch to three-tenths of an inch is expected with little or no snow forecast. Power outages and tree damage are possible from this storm. Please keep electronic devices charged and use caution when walking or driving in these conditions. Travel in the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ area may become dangerous or impossible, so througout the day and carefully consider travel plans, especially to areas north and west of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ campus.
