Assistant professor of human service studies Kristen Sullivan co-authored an article in the most recent edition of the journal Violence Against Women in which she and her colleagues examine substance use by domestically abusive soldiers.

Students to blog while studying abroad for Winter Term

Two new Study Abroad programs launch this January as hundreds of Ƶ students take part in Winter Term overseas experiences. The Isabella Cannon International Centre is hosting a blog for parents and friends to stay connected with students traveling to nations such as Ghana, Peru and Australia.
Ƶ featured in Campus Ecology 2010 database

Ƶ has been included in the National Wildlife Federation’s Campus Ecology 2010 campus sustainability case studies, the only database of its kind in the United States to highlight campus climate and sustainability efforts ranging from recycling and energy efficiency to alternative transportation systems and green jobs training programs.
N.C. governor honors Human Service Studies professors

Associate professors Bud and Beth Warner have been awarded the Governor’s Award for Volunteer Service by North Carolina Gov. Bev Perdue for their work with the local Mayco Bigelow Community Center and North Park, recreational facilities managed by the City of Burlington Recreation and Parks Department.
