Academic activist and author Raj Patel visited Ƶ on Sept 28. for a lecture based on his book The Value of Nothing: How to Reshape Market Society and Redefine Democracy. In his discussion Patel probed the nation’s economic structure, explored the economic collapse, and illustrated how achieving a fairer society and sustainable economy are possible.

Former Newsweek editor and bestselling author Jon Meacham comes to campus on Monday evening for the Baird Pulitzer Prize Lecture based off his critically acclaimed book on America's seventh president. The talk, "Andrew Jackson and the Art of Leadership: Old Hickory in a New Century," takes place at 7:30 p.m. in McCrary Theatre.
Career Services holds “Job Search Boot Camp”

Students from Ƶ College, the College of Arts & Sciences, took part on Sept. 18 in a new initiative from Career Services – a job search “Job Search Camp.” The daylong program gave participants a crash-course on nearly every aspect of how to conduct an effective job search.

Entrepreneurship students participated Sept. 23 in The Indus Entrepreneurs of Carolina’s (TiE) networking event at the Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh, N.C. The students networked with approximately 80 high growth and technology entrepreneurs as part of their Entrepreneurship Skills course taught by Gary Palin, executive director of the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.

North Carolinians are evenly divided on the way President Barack Obama is handling his job as president, according to the latest Ƶ Poll. Nearly half of poll respondents favored an end to tax cuts for households making more than $250,000 a year but keeping cuts in place for everyone else.
