There will be a university Memorial Service for Milena Alvarez at Holt Chapel on Tuesday, April 21, at 4:30 p.m. Milena was a freshman from Winston-Salem, N.C., who died earlier this month after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jeremy Gates had one thing in mind: Learn to walk. Again. A July 2006 car wreck left the Burlington man in a coma for three months, but by the next summer, once he had met faculty and students in Ƶ's doctor of physical therapy program, reaching that goal didn't look so impossible.

Students, faculty and community members from across North Carolina met April 4 in Ƶ’s Holt Chapel for the North Carolina Folklore Society’s Annual Conference, which included a presentation by three Ƶ students who are documenting the cultural heritage of the Cowee community in western North Carolina through the analysis of people’s stories, local traditions and cultural landscapes.
No. 300,000: Belk Library reaches milestone

Belk Library celebrated a milestone this month with the purchase of the university’s 300,000th volume, “Earth From Above,” a limited edition book that captures in dozens of colorful, detailed photos the different cultures and landscapes found around the globe.
