Supervisor Series session set for Jan. 9 canceled

This new pilot program is a series designed to be an introductory training program for staff in supervisory positions.

The focus is on new supervisors, however, all supervisors are welcome to attend. These monthly Supervisor Series sessions will focus on topics that were identified by current ��Ƶ supervisors as important in their daily activities. In session #3, Sherri Wolford, Human Resources Recruitment Coordinator, will share important information on the use of AppTrack.

This session was originally scheduled for Jan. 9 but will be rescheduled to another date. For more information check the Office of Leadership & Professional Development .

Andrea Edwards, an accountant in ��Ƶ’s Accounting-Administrative Department, will present on how to read and decipher budgets, available balances, and actual transaction details. She will also provide information on accountings top 10 must-knows. Administrative and program assistants are strongly encouraged to attend.

Session focuses on creating comfortable workstations – Jan. 22

Prolonged and repetitive work at your computer workstation can create discomfort and muscle aches. It is important to arrange your workstation in a healthy way.

Jo Boone, coordinator of the Workers Compensation Program, will explain and demonstrate how to properly set up your workstation area at a Lunch & Learn series from noon to 1:15 p.m. on Jan. 22 in the Isabella Cannon Room. Bring your lunch. Dessert will be provided.

Topics to be addressed include: conducting effective meetings, time management, impact of federal legislation on supervision, work-life balance, and having crucial conversations. In addtion to developing skills for effective supervision, participants will have the opportunity to build relationships with peers across campus.

Joining ��Ƶ Continuity Series: Nuts & Bolts of Working at ��Ƶ – Nov. 9

The sessions are intended to provide new employees with information about various departments and procedures AND to provide the opportunity to build relationships with a cohort of peers from across ��Ƶ’s campus.

This first session will include brief presentations on several key areas at ��Ƶ, including Wellness Cneter, Campus Rec, Library, and Print Services. The presentations will be followed by a buffet lunch and table discussions.

These sessions are open to participants from the current year’s Joining ��Ƶ Cultural Orientation sessions held on August 22 and October 5. Registration is required.
