Forum on local government encourages involvement of young professionals

On October 14, Ƶ law students and other young professionals participated in the first forum of a Local Government Educational Series about the roles and responsibilities of Greensboro’s city government, sponsored by Ƶ Law and synerG, the young professionals initiative of Action Greensboro.
Ƶ School of Law opens Clinical Law Center

Ƶ School of Law has opened a Clinical Law Center to support legal services provided by law school students. The center will provide a facility for students, under the supervision of law faculty and attorneys, to work with clients referred by nonprofit organizations and government agencies in the greater-Greensboro region.

Members of the faculty at Ƶ School of Law said they were proud to be part of a university that will soon shelter a chapter of The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation's oldest and most prestigious academic society. The Society voted on Oct. 2 to establish a new chapter at Ƶ.

John Englar completes board service in Delphi’s reorganization

Ƶ Law Distinguished Practitioner in Residence John Englar recently completed over three years of service on the Board of Directors of Delphi Corporation, overseeing the largest industrial company reorganization in U.S. history prior to the General Motors reorganization in 2009.
Ƶ Law forum explores recent and future changes in North Carolina tax law

Faith Rivers James presents research on Heirs’ Property at S.C. Black Lawyers Association Conference

Faith Rivers James, an associate professor at Ƶ Law, delivered a presentation at the South Carolina Black Lawyers Association Continuing Legal Education Conference on October 2, detailing injustices in court actions involving individuals who had inherited property purchased by former slaves during the Reconstruction period.
