Techtronica Concert – May 13

Techtronica is the music department’s synth-based music ensemble. The group performs electronic music utilizing DJ tools, synthesizers, and samplers. Techtronica’s spring concert will take place on Monday, May 13, at 7 p.m in Yeager Recital Hall.

Under the direction of Clay Stevenson, the concert will feature music by some of ��Ƶ’s own student producers as well as remixes of popular songs. The concert is open to the public and free of charge.

One World, One Voice – Dec. 3

During the program, the musicians will provide the audience with fascinating narrations about the diverse cultural origins of the music they will hear, ranging from African drums to bluegrass and more.

The ��Ƶ Music Ambassadors will be performing One World, One Voice on a multi-state tour beginning in December.

Faculty artists perform exhilarating works for violin and piano by French composers, including 20th century master Maurice Ravel (his 1927 Sonata nicknamed “The Blues”), a Baroque composition by virtuoso Jean-Marie Leclair, and César Franck’s Romantic and triumphant gem from 1886.

Hailing from Armenian and Ukrainian families, both artists were educated at the Moscow State Conservatory and came to the United States in the 1990s to pursue advanced studies. They presently teach at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and are artistic co-directors of the Norfolk Chamber Consort.
