Steve Ellington ’80, Michelle Wideman ’00, Priscilla Awkard ’95 and Kevin Gilmore ’96 will be recognized as the 2020 Distinguished Alumni Awards recipients at a ceremony on May 2.

Alumni, students, families, faculty, staff and friends gave more than $2.5 million in gifts, showed their pride on social media, and attended events around the world in honor of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Day.

The honor recognizes 40 outstanding African American business and community leaders in North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad.

The special ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Day gathering inside Alumni Gym offered a chance for students, faculty, staff and supporters to celebrate the university they love.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ BFA Acting Alumna Becca Hurd '16 is bringing her internationally-acclaimed one-woman show, "The Other Side 25" to campus for a special performance in Roberts Studio Theatre on March 6 at 5:30 p.m. She will also conduct workshops with current BFAA Acting majors during her three-day residency.

Richard ’87 P’17 and Laurie Johnson P’17 extend their ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ legacy with a generous planned gift.

Twenty-one students attended the 2020 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, interacting with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ alumni working – and gaining recognition – in the film and entertainment industries.
