The longtime ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ leader and benefactor passed away Aug. 21.

The generous commitment brings fundraising for phase one of the project to more than $1.5 million as part of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ LEADS Campaign. The renovations will transform ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s baseball facility and one of the university’s most successful athletics programs.

The psychology major, minoring in sport management and coaching, collaborated with the assistant professor of sport management to investigate how the pro-environmental initiatives of college athletic departments influence the psychological responses of consumers.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Trustee Jay Hendrickson ’71 and his wife, Amy Hendrickson ’69, support A Will to Lead, a special initiative of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ LEADS Campaign to inspire donors to establish a lasting legacy by placing the university in their estate plans.

In a recent public service announcement, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ head women's basketball coach Charlotte Smith joined college basketball coaches from across North Carolina to encourage residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

After an abrupt ending to the 2021 tournament in Schar Center, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ will again play host to the CAA Women's Basketball Championship, slated for March 10-13.

Taylor Durham '96, "The Voice of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Phoenix," was on the call as the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ men's basketball team took on Drexel for a shot at the CAA title and the first NCAA Tournament bid in program history.

The Phoenix sophomore made history as the first female ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ runner to qualify for the NCAA Division I Championships.

Together, the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ community raised over $3.4 million from 5,609 gifts and unlocked numerous opportunities for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students and the community.
