David L. Morrow II ’07 L’10, special adviser to the president and assistant chief of staff at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, recently joined the American Bar Association’s Advisory Commission for the Division for Public Education.

Artemis Preeshl, assistant professor of performing arts, was appointed to the advisory board of the Voice and Speech Review published by Routledge/Taylor and Francis.  

The Center for Engaged Learning invites applications for the , a position which will begin in June 2018 and continue through May 2020.

School of Education Dean Ann Bullock will participate in a year-long fellowship with Deans for Impact, a national nonprofit organization to support and empower leaders at all levels of educator preparation. 

The School of Communications lecturer was heralded as the “epitome of a scholastic journalism supporter and advocate” by the Virginia Association of Journalism Teachers and Advisers. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ President Leo M. Lambert presented the medallion to five retired faculty and staff members for their meritorious service to the university during an event marking the start of a new academic year. The university also recognized four endowed professorships and two longtime professors were named Distinguished University Professors. 

Kathy Matera, a professor of chemistry, will spend the next two years as the Japheth E. Rawls Professor for Undergraduate Research in Science. 

India Johnson, an assistant professor of psychology, has been awarded a small research grant through the Society for Personality and Social Psychology and has co-authored a recent paper in the Journal of Experimental and Social Psychology.

The endowed professorship is funded by the estate of the late Isabella Cannon ’24, a former mayor of Raleigh, N.C.

The professorship honors senior full professors for their career achievements in teaching, scholarship, leadership and service to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ.
