Service, social and healing opportunities along with other special programs at ������Ƶ during January will commemorate the life and legacy of the late civil rights leader.

Ferris, the Joel R. Williamson Eminent Professor of History Emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the former chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities, will present on his book and exhibit, “I AM A MAN: Photographs of the Civil Rights Movement, 1960-1970.”

Over 2,400 luminaries and 50,000 lights illuminated the Historic Neighborhood, Under the Oaks and the Lambert Academic Village.

The Power and Place Collaborative is a partnership between ������Ƶ, Burlington's Mayco Bigelow Center, and the African American Cultural Arts and History Center. Students interviewed community members and edited their oral histories into short videos.

This year, 2,400 luminaries and more than 50,000 lights will be spread across the Historic Neighborhood, Under the Oaks and across Lambert Academic Village.
