Through his philanthropic contributions, Loy made possible much of the expansion of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ campus during the past 20 years.

Edward and Joan Doherty of Saddle River, New Jersey, have made a gift to provide scholarships for talented scholars who need financial assistance.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ parents Ken and Malinda Gill of Charlotte, N.C., are among the donors who have recently made generous gifts to support the Schar Center, the university’s new 5,400-seat convocation center.

Hundreds gathered outside Alamance Building on Thursday night for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's annual Festival of Holiday Lights, with luminaries glowing in honor of alumni and student donors. 

The professorship is funded by an endowment from Trustee Edward Doherty and his wife, Joan, of Saddle River, New Jersey.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ alumnus and Trustee John R. Hill ’76 and his wife, Lesley, continue their generous support of the university with two major gifts.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ parents Dwight and Martha Schar made the largest single gift in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ history, pledging $12 million to name two new buildings on campus, including the recently opened Dwight C. Schar Hall.

Mike Driskill ’89 and his wife, Robin, of Raleigh, N.C., utilized planned giving to make a significant impact on ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's future.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ alumna Gail H. LaRose ’64 and her daughter Michelle LaRose, an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ trustee, have made a $2.5 million gift to name a new student gathering space planned for the historic part of campus.

Support from Trustee Cindy Citrone and her husband, Rob, will enable ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ to integrate design thinking into curricular and co-curricular experiences across the campus.
