Would you trust a doctor with no practical experience to operate on you unsupervised? For most, the answer is a resounding no. Luckily, nearly all U.S. physicians participate in a full-time residency, working under the supervision of an attending physician, as part of their training to practice medicine. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ believes that emerging lawyers, like physicians, should engage in full-time, supervised residencies as part of their professional training. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law’s Elder Law Clinic, led by clinic director Hannah Vaughan, sponsored a series of events in Greensboro this fall featuring Paul Greenwood, a pioneer in the prosecution of elder abuse in America.

One of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's top scholars shared new work this fall into the evolution of Nazi laws that stripped Jews of their possessions during Hitler's reign and of the first genocide trials conducted after World War II.

Co//ab, a co-working facility for entrepreneurs and startup businesses, opened Nov. 17 in downtown Greensboro, one block from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law, thanks to the combined efforts of the Greensboro Partnership Entrepreneur Connection, Action Greensboro, the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ.

The Nov. 7 forum featured insights from law scholars and collegiate athletics leaders. Practicing attorneys and other guests joined law students and faculty for a day of in-depth analysis and discussion.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law students participated in an Oct. 20 roundtable on public surveillance that included a presentation by Deven Desai, associate professor of law and ethics at the Georgia Institute of Technology Scheller College of Business.

Several candidates for the Supreme Court of North Carolina discussed their qualifications and vision for the state judicial system at an Oct. 13 ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law forum.

A panel of legal, law enforcement and political experts at a Sept. 23 ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law forum discussed legal and policy issues surrounding race and policing in the United States. The event was organized in the wake of the Aug. 9 shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri and subsequent protests and police responses.

The article spotlights the assistance of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law students on behalf of a family from Afghanistan fleeing persecution and threats from al-Qaida for their work as translators for a medical organization.
