David M. Powell '86, who is beginning his duties as head of North Carolina's Piedmont Triad Partnership, has been named one of "10 to Watch" in the greater Triad area by The Business Journal. The periodical profiled Powell in an article published Thursday, Jan. 13.

Tom Arcaro, a professor of sociology and director of Project Pericles at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, and Lauren Taylor '10, a Periclean Scholar during her studies at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, presented a talk on Jan. 28, 2011, at Thames Valley University in London.

Nathan Moore '02 and his girlfriend, Lana McKissack, appeared in the Jan. 18 episode of the FOX game show "Million Dollar Money Drop," walking away with $300,000 in winnings.

Jerry Tolley, head football coach emeritus at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, recently published his sixth book of football drills. The Complete Book of Football Tackling Drills offers detailed, illustrated instructions from some of the college football's most renowned coaches, including Ohio State's Jim Tressel, Alabama's Nick Saban, Texas' Mack Brown and Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer, among many others.

Tom Parham and Jerry Tolley will be among seven accomplished figures this spring to make up the 2011 class to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. Parham, who led ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ men's tennis program for nearly two decades and briefly coached the women's team, and Tolley, a celebrated ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ football coach, will be enshrined at a May 12 ceremony in the North Raleigh Hilton Hotel. Both men won NAIA national championships during their ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ careers.

Athletics staff and coaches began the move into Alumni Field House on Jan. 14. The 30,000-square-foot facility at the north end of Rhodes Stadium in the North Athletics Complex is the new headquarters for Phoenix athletics.
