The ������Ƶ Freedom Scholars is one of several university college access programs, launched in 2022. This summer, the second cohort of the program celebrated their civic engagement research and initiatives at their annual Symposium, inspired to find their purpose and better their communities.

Nineteen Latinx/Hispanic seniors and their families came together on May 23 to celebrate their roots and thank those who supported them at ������Ƶ as part of “¡Celebremos!: Graduates Take Flight.” 

Forty members of the Class of 2024 who are first-generation college students received special stoles during the May 22 ceremony held in McKinnon Hall.

������Ƶ Academy, ������Ƶ's college access and success program, hosted an Orientation Day on May 11th for the newly accepted scholars and families.

Sixteen students in ������Ƶ Academy's Pi cohort were celebrated on Wednesday, May 8, as they prepare to graduate from high school and pursue new educational opportunities.

Kenneth Brown and colleagues led a conference session on first-generation graduate student success at the inaugural Gardner Institute Graduate Student Experience conference that is helping to shape higher education’s approach to graduate student education. 

The Scholarship and Opportunities Fair will feature a range of academic opportunities designed to support student engagement and learning at ������Ƶ and any applicable financial awards and incentives.

Nearly 200 ABSS students were given gift cards to pick up any books that excited them and potentially spark an interest in reading.

The celebration was held in Alumni Gym on Wednesday, November 8, and offered a place for first-generation students to mingle, reflect and enjoy themselves.
