Student leaders from The Pendulum and Phi Psi Cli Yearbook were honored with individual and Best of Show awards at the fourth annual North Carolina College Media Association conference Feb. 19 at Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. Students and advisers from student media organizations from across the state participated in the daylong event that focused primarily on reporting for and on the arts.

Students from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's School of Communications placed in this year's Broadcast Education Association's Festival of Media Arts in several awards categories. They will be recognized at the organization's annual conference April 9-13 in Las Vegas.

Phillipe Charles '06, a creative services producer at FOX 50, an affiliate of WRAL-TV in Durham, N.C. received two Emmy awards at the 25th annual MidSouth Regional Emmy Awards on Saturday, Jan. 29.

Four ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Communications alumni suggested students embrace freelance and part-time work as they begin the process of searching for jobs during a packed panel discussion attended by both undergraduate and graduate students Feb. 14.

Frances Ward-Johnson, associate department chair and associate professor in the School of Communications, will be a national judge for the Public Relations Society of America's Silver Anvil Awards competition, which recognizes outstanding strategic public relations programs at national and international companies.
