An ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ team has been formed on the Kiva micro-lending Web site. Ocek Eke, assistant professor of communications, recently created a group for the university that will enable students, faculty, staff and alumni to lend money collectively.

Assistant professor Peter Kiwitt will show his 15-minute short “Break” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25 in McEwen 011.

Nicole Triche, an instructor in the School of Communications, will have two of her thesis films shown at 8 p.m. on Sept. 21 at filmSPARK 2008.

Connie Book, associate dean of the School of Communications, along with student Lauren Limerick, testified Sept. 16 before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet. They discussed findings of their recent study of the nation’s transition to digital television.

Barbara Miller, assistant professor in the School of Communications, had an article accepted for publication in the Journal of Applied Communication Research. The article is titled “Digging Deeper: Crisis Communication in the Coal Industry.”

The Associated Press reports that the Federal Communications Commission is using the work of an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ team led by Connie Book, associate dean of the School of Communications, in analyzing the DTV transition test which took place in Wilmington, N.C., Sept. 8.

A team of students led by communications professor Connie Book traveled to Wilmington, N.C., on Sept. 8 to document what happened when the first American media market made the historic switch from analog to digital television.
