Glenda Phillips Hightower, the first African-American to enroll as a full-time ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ student, and Eugene Perry '69, the first African-American to receive an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ degree, will have formal portraits unveiled during a McKinnon Hall event.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ and the (Burlington, N.C.) Times-News will hold the fourth and final "Community Connections" panel discussion of the 2015-16 academic year on March 7 from 7-8:15 p.m. in McKinnon Hall of the Moseley Center.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students, faculty and staff took part in a Monday march through downtown Burlington that commemorated the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. while raising awareness of work still to be done in advancing civil liberties.

Two local middle school students were honored Tuesday for their entries to an annual essay contest organized by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education.

Students will lead discussion over dinner on the theme of "One Campus, Many Voices." RSVP required.
