Civic leader explores legacy of MLK Jr.

A North Carolina civic activist and former mayor of Charlotte challenged students on Wednesday to not just reexamine their personal goals, but to then exceed them, while reaching beyond the Ƶ campus to give back to their communities. Harvey B. Gantt was the keynote speaker for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Program.

Harvey B. Gantt, the first African American elected to lead North Carolina’s largest city, visits Ƶ this month for an annual commemorative program to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The former Charlotte mayor will speak Jan. 14 at noon in Whitley Auditorium.

Students, staff & faculty attend Kwanzaa Celebration
