Twenty-three rising sophomores from the Alamance-Burlington School System have been selected to join the fifth class of scholars in the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy, a college access and success program for academically talented students, on the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ campus.

Five high school students from the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy traveled to Seattle this spring for the Society for Applied Anthropology conference where they presented a research poster on how intersections of social location such as race, class, gender and sexuality can produce barriers to and opportunities for college access.

Tyler West ’11 wins BEA 3rd place for “Go-4-College” series

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ senior Tyler West won 3rd place in the educational/instructional category of the student competition in the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts for a four-part series of videos on the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy’s “Go-4-College” program.

NCICU awards grant for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy and Multicultural Center programs

An organization that represents private colleges and universities in North Carolina has awarded ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ a grant of $20,000 to fund programs for rising first-year college students in the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy, the Watson Scholarship Program and the Odyssey Scholarship Program.
