An Oct. 10 awards ceremony hosted by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ College, the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, recognized the professional achievements of three distinguished university graduates.

The five annual awards celebrate excellence in teaching, scholarship, service-leadership, mentorship and staff in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ College, the College of Arts and Sciences.

In her new role on the university’s Senior Staff, the current chair of the Department of Human Service Studies will help establish more formal policies, procedures, and practices to support the creation and growth of graduate programs at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Assistant Professor Jessica Navarro and developmental theorist Jonathan Tudge co-authored a new book offering fresh insight and practical tools into one of the most influential theories of human development.

Bryan ’07 and Liz Padgette ’06, Katie Sherborne P’27, and Grant P’27 and Angie Dorfman P’27 contributed more than $300,000 collectively to the new home for holistic health and well-being initiatives. Their gifts will also create scholarships for students.

Through a new partnership, the Human Services Studies students worked alongside local families, running a camp-style activity center for children on their school holidays.

Sandra Darfour-Oduro, assistant professor of public health studies, presented her research titled "Predictors of birth outcome at a Teaching Hospital in Ghana", at the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) conference held in Atlanta.
