Pamela M. Kiser, Watts-Thompson Professor in the Department of Human Service Studies, was formally awarded the Distinguished University Professorship at a special investiture ceremony on Oct. 4. The board of trustees conferred the professorship on Kiser last spring, and the special ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate Kiser's contributions to teaching, scholarship and service to the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ community.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ senior Natalie Lampert recently co-authored an article about the international AIDS Conference that was featured in The Vienna Review. An international studies major and social science fellow, Lampert spent the summer interning at the English-speaking newspaper in Vienna.

"Best practices in transitioning youth with HIV: Perspectives of pediatric and adult infectious disease care providers," an article co-authored by Cynthia Fair and Kristen Sullivan in the Department of Human Services Studies, and by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ alumna Amy Gatto, has been published in the journal Psychology, Health, and Medicine.

Medical advances have allowed children infected with HIV/AIDS to live longer than ever before, and for families and doctors, that creates new challenges as teenage patients grow older. New research by associate professor Cynthia Fair outlines steps that families and medical providers should consider to ease what can be a difficult transition from pediatric to adult care.

Associate professor Bud Warner will serve as ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's first Faculty Fellow for Civic Engagement, beginning with the 2010-11 academic year.

Cynthia Fair, associate professor of human services studies, and Britten Ginsburg '06, of the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors, have co-authored a research article for the Journal of HIV/AIDS and Social Services.

They come to the center from the streets, broken homes and jails where they served time with adults. Dozens of Filipino boys, victims of sexual abuse, seek refuge each year at the Stairway Foundation south of Manila – a place where sophomore Meagan Harrison last summer spent two months volunteering through ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s Ward Family Learning in Action Award.
