Alamance County Libraries Holiday Magic Event in Need of Volunteers on Dec. 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Alamance County Libraries will be hosting Eastlawn Literacy Night  at the Front St. Methodist Church on Dec. 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is in need of 10-15 volunteers.

In a partnership with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's community partner Crossroads and with the support of an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's Kermode Center Community Partnership Initiative grant, a Human Service Studies Department professor and her students presented a film series on sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking in the United States, as part of an ongoing community outreach program addressing these critical global issues locally.

The statewide coalition of colleges and universities also recognized an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ student with its Community Impact Award for leadership and service. 

Cody Marshall, sophomore musical theather major, created the partnership through the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement to match his gifts and community needs.

Salvation Army LINCS Partners With Vital Signs to Create 100 “Blessings Bags” to be distributed through the Salvation Army.

A recent study by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ economics students has found that Sustainable Alamance, a community initiative helps local residents attain self-sufficiency, has had a $3 million local impact during the past five years.
