When letters and phone calls to the Social Security Administration fell on deaf ears, Brenda Cunningham turned to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law’s Elder Law Clinic hoping for a miracle.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor Henry Gabriel represented the State of North Carolina at the annual meeting of the Uniform Law Commission. He was also a U.S. Delegate to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, Working Group on Electronic Commerce. In addition, he was reappointed by the U.S. State Department to another term as a member of the State Department Advisory Committee for Private International Law.

Christopher Anglin L’11, Mital Patel L’09 and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor Hannah Vaughan, director of the law school’s Elder Law Clinic, were among 16 attorneys recognized in June for completion of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Leadership Academy.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor Enrique Armijo has accepted an invitation to become an Affiliated Fellow with the Information Society Project at Yale Law School.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ parents Eugenia Leggett P'15 and Barry Frank P'15 of Greensboro, N.C., have established the George R. Johnson Dean’s Discretionary Fund to honor Johnson, who recently stepped down as dean of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law after five years of service in the role to return to the faculty.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor Scott Gaylord was retained by the North Carolina House and Senate, through the legislature’s Speaker and President Pro Tem, to represent the State in its efforts to get the U.S. Supreme Court to review a decision of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals that prohibits North Carolina from issuing “Choose Life” specialty license plates.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor David S. Levine, an affiliate scholar at Stanford Law School’s Center for Internet and Society, has accepted a position as a Visiting Research Collaborator at Princeton University’s Center for Information Technology Policy for 2014-15. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor Howard Katz was one of 25 professors and the only full-time law faculty member to participate in a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) program on Westward Expansion and the Constitution in the Early American republic. He was also selected as one of 22 law professors and deans to participate in a Wolters Kluwer conference on the future of legal education. 

Drawing from his scholarship about the application of the First Amendment to new technologies, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor Enrique Armijo submitted a July 9 filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) net neutrality proceeding.
