ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Law students, please join us on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at noon (Room 204) for the first speaker in this year’s Business Law Speaker Series. Rick Berry is the Senior Vice President and Director of Case Administration for the Financial Industries Regulation Authority (FINRA). FINRA protects investors by writing and enforcing rules and regulations that govern the activities of brokerage firms and brokers. FINRA also administers the largest forum specifically designed to resolve disputes between and among investors, securities firms, and individual brokers.

2013 Intramural Moot Court champions announced

Hayley Sherman and John Boschini won the final round of the Sixth Annual ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Law Intramural Moot Court Competition held on September 30. Genna Petre and Bree Shadrick were the first-runner up team. Shadrick was also named “Best Oralist from the Final Round,” and Michael Costolo was named “Best Oralist from the Preliminary Rounds.” The team of Katie Lester and Mark Henkle took “Best Brief” honors.

Tom Molony’s scholarship on fraud and securities transactions published in Santa Clara Law Review

In a recently published article, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Law Professor Tom Molony identifies ambiguities in federal law and judicial frameworks that have attempted to define when fraudulent activity is connected to securities transactions. Molony’s article also poses solutions to the lack of clarity in this area of law.
