Editor Justin Catanoso says ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law Dean Leary Davis "has the energetic, detail-oriented soul of an entrepreneur," and calls him "one of the legends in legal education" in North Carolina. Davis steps down as dean Aug. 1, but Catanoso notes his continued role in shaping the school's curriculum and focus on leadership.

A $500,000 gift from Maurice Jennings Sr. ’57 and his wife, Linda, and Maurice “Burney” Jennings Jr. ’87 and his wife, Dina '87, will establish an endowed professorship at the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law. The gift includes an estate gift from Burney Jennings, an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ trustee.

Howard Katz comes to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ from Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio, where he was a visiting professor. His background includes teaching positions at a variety of law schools including George Washington, Pittsburgh, Howard, Tulane and George Mason.

Andrew Haile brings to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law experience in transactional, tax and securities work as a partner with Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard in Greensboro, N.C. He served as an adjunct professor at the law school for the 2008 spring semester and, prior to joining his firm, clerked for the Honorable Frank W. Bullock, Jr., former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina.

Catherine Dunham, associate professor of law, is teaching two summer courses for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) at the organization's headquarters in Louisville, Colo.

Margaret Robison Kantlehner, associate dean for external relations at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law, was quoted by The Business Journal in a story on the merger of a prominent Greensboro law firm published in the July 18-24 edition.

Victor Streib, visiting professor in the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law, was a guest on "The State of Things," WUNC radio's statewide program, on July 16. Streib discussed women and crime on the program with host Frank Stasio.

Thomas Noble joins the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law faculty full-time after previous service to the school as an adjunct professor, teaching courses in legal writing and trial advocacy. He previously worked with the Greensboro firm of Tuggle Duggins & Meschan, P.A., where he concentrated on commercial litigation and labor and employment matters.

The Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series continued Wednesday, Feb. 20, as Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, chairman of the American Red Cross and former U.S. Ambassador to Finland, discussed her experiences with students, faculty and special guests at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ University School of Law. Leary Davis, founding dean of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law, will step down as dean on August 1. He will remain with the school as founding dean emeritus and professor of law, and will continue to teach courses in the law school.
