The North Carolina Local News Workshop, housed at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s School of Communications, will champion new approaches to providing reliable, high-quality journalism and information for NC residents and offer a base of support for organizations and individuals working to reinvent and sustain local news.

The campus-wide change made in response to the COVID-19 outbreak comes as classes resume following Spring Break. Since ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ announced the change on March 11, faculty members have been working diligently to create robust online learning experiences for students.

The new policy was enacted in response to questions and concerns raised by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ faculty, students and staff due to the extraordinary circumstances created by the coronavirus outbreak.

Serrano will lead a workshop about immigration law and participate in a screening and question-and-answer session about the documentary "Forbidden: Undocumented and Queer in Rural America."

The gift from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Executive Vice President Steven House and his wife, Patricia House, will support excellence in undergraduate mentoring, a hallmark of an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ education. The couple’s gift is counted as part of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ LEADS Campaign.

Little, assistant provost and director of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, was honored with the network’s 2019 Bob Pierleoni Spirit of POD Award.

Faculty, staff and students filled the Great Hall on Monday to toast the new rankings by U.S. News, which named ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ a top-100 National University.
