Catherine McNeela, professor of performing arts and coordinator of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's music theatre program, has been named the university's William S. Long Professor, an honor named for the institution's first president. McNeela's appointment was made by President Leo M. Lambert in recognition of her 20 years of outstanding teaching, scholarship and leadership in developing ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s nationally recognized Music Theatre program.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ junior Taylor Trensch and alumnus Matt Shingledecker '08 have spent much of the past year headlining the national tour of the Broadway musical, "Spring Awakening." This weekend, the Trensch and Shingledecker will enjoy a homecoming of sorts, as the critically acclaimed tour makes a stop at the Durham Performing Arts Center this weekend.
