As part of the 2018 Coca-Cola and Regal Films student film competition, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students traveled to Atlanta in late January to produce a 35-second film, which is now available to watch online. And don’t forget to vote for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s commercial in the Fan Favorite Award contest.

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ student media organizations collected three Best of Show awards in a contest hosted by the North Carolina College Media Association.

Ben DeLoose’s new movie, “Escape the Dark,” will be shown at the Carolina Theater in Durham on Friday, Feb. 23, and Saturday, Feb. 24.

Strategic communications major Rachel Hobbs ’18 was one of two finalists for the national award, which was presented at the 2018 PRWeek Awards Dinner and Presentation on March 15.

School of Communications students earned a total of five awards in the Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts. 

During their Winter Term “fly-in” experience, seven graduate students in the Interactive Media master’s program traveled to Western Europe, filming a short documentary and gathering multimedia content to promote a community space dedicated to minority languages. 

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ alumnus produced a full-length documentary titled “A Year with Betty Gold” that chronicles the life of acclaimed artist Betty Gold. The final product earned raved reviews at an annual festival in Wisconsin.

Led by Assistant Professor Mark Cryan, seven students attended the four-day event that drew representatives from all 30 Major League Baseball teams and their 160 minor league affiliates. Among those on hand were several ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ alumni now working in professional baseball.

Lillian Engel ’19 placed in the top three of the American Cinema Editors’ Student Editing Competition, earning an invitation to the 2018 ACE Eddie Awards held on Jan. 26 in Beverly Hills, California.

Following their selection, cinema and television arts majors Patrick Wei ’20, Hunter Strauch ’18 and Katie Shannon ’18 received $15,000 to produce a 35-second film for the student competition.
