Students and faculty build homes in Zambia

Two ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ professors and eight students spent several days in Zambia late this spring to help Habitat for Humanity with building homes for orphans and vulnerable children impacted by HIV/AIDS.

An intern with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s Belk Library worked this semester in coordination with the N.C. Digital Heritage Center to digitize and publish online scrapbooks created by eight of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s earliest students.

Professors receive Fulbright awards for 2011-12

Two ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ faculty members have received Fulbright grants for 2011-12 to teach and conduct research overseas. Associate professor Glenn Scott was awarded a Fulbright lecture grant to teach at the University of the Ryukyus in Okinawa, Japan, and assistant professor Kim Jones will be collecting and analyzing oral histories in Brazil regarding the origins and development of the nation's universal national health care system, as well as supervising graduate research and helping to develop a Brazilian university's first Ph.D. program.
