Jewish students from colleges and universities throughout North Carolina will be heading to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ on September 5 for their biennial leadership retreat. The retreat is sponsored by North Carolina’s Statewide Hillel and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Hillel. Or Mars, Director of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship/Davidson Scholars Program and former Executive Director of North Carolina Hillel from 2000 to 2006, will be the keynote speaker. The retreat will focus on leadership themes. Rachel Stanley, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ sophomore and an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Hillel Board member, is ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's representative on the statewide planning committee. Nancy Luberoff, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Hillel Campus Director, will lead one of the workshops. Funding for the retreat has been provided by Hillel International Soref "Small and Mighty" division.

The United Church of Chapel Hill is celebrating its centennial anniversary, and on May 23, 2010, the church unveiled a bronze plaque listing all of its former pastors, including ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ president emeritus J. Earl Danieley.

The Rev. Sam Wells, dean of Duke University Chapel, will deliver ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s 2010 Baccalaureate sermon on Friday, May 21, at 3 p.m. in the Koury Athletic Center.

Richard McBride, chaplain emeritus, delivered the opening remarks at the N.C. Council of Churches 75th anniversary celebrations on May 18 at the Duke Divinity School on the campus of Duke University.
