In an effort to welcome new students to campus and through the support of an anonymous gift to the university, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Hillel this summer launched a pilot project where a trio of student interns reached out to dozens of incoming freshmen with the goal of engaging them in the growing Jewish life on campus.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ chaplain emeritus Richard McBride, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ trustee Dr. William N.P Herbert ’68 and retired vice president Nan Perkins received ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Medallions on Aug. 22, 2011, in an annual ceremony that celebrates the highest honor the university bestows on individuals for their meritorious service to the institution.

Two trees that towered over ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ for decades were felled Wednesday morning, and the dried wood from both will be featured in the future Numen-Lumen Pavilion, which will house a multi-faith center planned for the very site in the Academic Village where the giant oaks once stood.

The Rev. Dr. Janet F. Fuller, who has dedicated her professional career to higher education ministry, most recently as chaplain for Hollins University in Roanoke, Va., has been selected to serve as the next chaplain at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ.
