A historic ������Ƶ building will be lifted from its original location this weekend and moved nearly half a mile, across railroad tracks, to make room for a plaza to be constructed at the front of the Academic Village area on campus.

Frank Haith, a 1988 ������Ƶ graduate and head men's basketball coach at the University of Miami, will serve as one of two assistant coaches on the 2009 USA Basketball World University Games Team, which will compete in the 24th World University Games July 2-12 in Belgrade, Serbia.

Tait Arend and Rick Owen joined ������Ƶ this spring as major gift officers and will work with donors in support of the university’s development efforts, including the ongoing Ever ������Ƶ fundraising campaign.

Three ������Ƶ undergraduate students and two ������Ƶ law students have been selected for 10-week summer internships with various North Carolina state agencies. The N.C. State Government Internship Program, in its 39th year, is coordinated by the Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office in the Department of Administration.

The College Board has awarded ������Ƶ and the Alamance-Burlington School System a 2009 College Board Greenhouse Program Award to fund their new “Go 4 College” program, which will assist Cummings High School students who plan to visit campus in the coming months for college-access programs and experiences.

Four ������Ƶ employees were recognized for superior scholarship, teaching, mentoring and service at the annual faculty-staff awards luncheon on May 13, 2009. Laura Roselle, Connie Book, Glenda Crawford and Keith Dimont were each selected for one of the highest accolades bestowed each year on faculty and staff.

Tripp York, an instructor of religious studies at ������Ƶ, explores the lives of Christian anarchists who attempted to address materialism, racism and militarism in Living on Hope While Living in Babylon: The Christian Anarchists of the 20th Century, published this month by Wipf & Stock and York’s third book since 2007.
