In her first opening address as ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's president, Connie Ledoux Book focused on planning for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's future while being mindful of the past. Book delivered the address August 20 to a crowd of faculty and staff gathered in the new Schar Center.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ President Connie Ledoux Book presented the medallion to two retired faculty members and two steadfast supporters of the university during an event marking the start of a new academic year. The university also recognized four named professorships during the event.

Awtrey, an associate professor of mathematics at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, received the Henry L. Alder Award from the Mathematics Association of America at its national MathFest conference. 

“The Best 384 Colleges” guide ranks ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ as the #2 “best-run” college in the country.

A busy summer for construction crews means ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ will be dedicating new residential, dining, academic and athletics facilities within the next several months. 

The closure is necessary for the repaving of the North O'Kelly Avenue intersection.

School of Education Dean Ann Bullock was among eight new members announced this week for the group that advises and designs programming for teacher education programs.
