A Liberal Arts Approach to Engineering
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s engineering program gives you the opportunity to complete your engineering education at a liberal arts university. You will explore a broad set of societal ideas through the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Core Curriculum and develop proficiency in mathematics and the sciences. The major also includes a broad study of foundational engineering topics such as mechanics, materials, circuits and options for more specialized topics such as robotics, bioinstrumentation, fluid flow, and energy transformations. You may further focus your engineering studies at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ with Biomedical, Computing/Electrical concentrations, a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering, or a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Some key features of the program are the annual engineering design experiences which will expose you to team-based, creative problem solving in the context of service-learning, prototyping and scholarly research. You will learn to effectively assess needs, project design, prototype, collaborate and evaluate and improve their solutions.

Majors
B.S. in Engineering
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµâ€™s Bachelor of Science in engineering provides a broad foundation across engineering disciplines, including the study of mechanics, materials, circuits and other foundational engineering topics. Annual engineering design experiences give students opportunities to apply what they learn through team-based problem solving, prototyping, service learning and scholarly research.
The flexibility of the engineering program also allows students to pursue additional academic interests across ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ, including areas such as business, entrepreneurship, professional writing and rhetoric, world languages and other disciplines.
B.S. in Civil Engineering
The Bachelor of Science in civil engineering prepares students to apply engineering principles to the design, development and improvement of the built and natural environments. Students build a foundation in engineering, mathematics and science while developing the technical and problem-solving skills needed to address complex infrastructure and societal challenges.
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
The Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering prepares students to understand, design and improve mechanical and energy systems. Through engineering coursework and hands-on learning, students develop skills in areas such as mechanics, materials, design and energy while learning to approach engineering challenges collaboratively and creatively.
B.S. in Engineering — Biomedical Concentration
The biomedical concentration allows engineering students to focus their studies at the intersection of engineering and the biological sciences. Students combine a broad engineering foundation with specialized coursework that explores the application of engineering principles to biological and biomedical challenges.
B.S. in Engineering — Electrical & Computing Concentration
The electrical and computing concentration allows engineering students to focus their studies on electrical and computer-based systems. Students combine a broad engineering foundation with specialized coursework related to areas such as circuits, electronics, computing and embedded systems.
Minor
Engineering Design Minor
The engineering design minor provides students from across the university with opportunities to develop engineering design and problem-solving skills. Through interdisciplinary coursework and hands-on experiences, students learn to approach complex challenges through design, collaboration, prototyping and analysis.
Dual Degree Program
The unique dual-degree engineering programs at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ support students working toward two degrees: one from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ and one from an engineering university. Students participating in the program will complete three years at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ. These years will include science, mathematics, computer science and Core Curriculum courses along with their discipline-specific courses. Foundational engineering courses are offered by our faculty every fall and spring. After finishing three years at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ and satisfying the entry requirements of the affiliate engineering university, the student will transfer to the engineering institution, normally for two more years.

Accreditation
