Welcome to the homepage of Jazz Studies at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ. We strive to support a creative community of musicians and scholars open to all students, regardless of major. Our program offers outstanding ensembles, courses, and other opportunities to grow as a musician/scholar. We offer classes like Jazz Harmony, History of Jazz, and Jazz Improvisation, as well as large and small ensembles, including opportunities to perform alongside peers, faculty members, and even world-renowned guest artists.

The  fits easily alongside any major and helps students build a deeper understanding of music, culture, and self-expression. No matter where you’re headed, jazz at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ can be a rewarding part of the journey.

Mission Statement

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµâ€™s Jazz Studies program empowers creative, versatile musicians through mentorship, performance, and real-world opportunities in a collaborative, forward-thinking community. Jazz teaches students to balance individuality and collaboration, building creativity, adaptability, and empathy through improvisation and group interplay while acknowledging the artistic contributions and musical traditions of great musicians past and present.
