ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ

Design Forge is ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s annual convening of design thinking educators, practitioners and thought leaders. Each year, Design Forge addresses a topic of interest to higher education, strengthens collaboration in the design thinking community and searches for new opportunities for design thinking to enhance student learning.

The 2027 Forge will take place at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ on March 24 & 25 with an option for in-person attendees to extend their time together through a Forging Fridays Writing Fellowship on Friday, March 26.

Building on themes from prior Forges and our FDHE convening, we will devote our time together to exploring how we might design for cultivation. As we explore this theme together, we invite you to engage with the following themes:

  • Remember: How might we tap into deeply rooted knowledge systems that can nourish future generations?
  • Reimagine: How might we cultivate resilient communities and diverse sociocultural ecosystems that balance needs and resources with care, and which allow for emergence?
  • Remake: How might we design systems that allow for continuous refinement of relationships with ourselves and others?
  • Restory: What might happen when we reframe design as a process of cultivation? How might design as praxis open opportunities for more intentional growth and decline?

We can host a limited number of attendees in person with the option for virtual connection as well.
