One Neighborhood, One Week on the Internet in 2001: The Families’ Stories

Meet the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ families who took part in this project

This page is part of a revealing, detailed study of Internet use during the week of Jan. 12-19, 2001, by 24 upper-middle-class families in a small-town neighborhood. The information here was gathered through interviews and the completion of time-use diaries by individual family members in two dozen ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, N.C., households. Entry and exit interviews and the family members’ daily diary entries have been woven into the individual magazine feature -style stories you will find here about each family. Click on each of the links to read a detailed account of each particular family’s use of the Internet during this week, at the start of the new millennium.
