Morris guided the Hurricanes to their second NCAA title in three years, and fourth overall, with a 12-1 win over Stanford in the championship game of the College World Series June 16 in Omaha, Neb. Miami (53-12) finished the season by winning its last 17 games, and became the 18th team to go undefeated in the College World Series.

Morris, a native of Lexington, N.C., was a three-year shortstop during his Ƶ playing days. Before the Hurricanes hosted Ƶ for a three-game series in February, Morris recalled his playing career and his affinity for Ƶ in an article which appeared on the Hurricanes’ Web site.
