The spring 2011 POWERless Energy Competition has reached its halfway point with results now in for the first two weeks of the four-week competition. A cumulative campus-wide energy reduction stands at 6.5 percent, with the ultimate goal of a 10 percent decrease in energy use.

Results by competition category are as follows:
Buildings Division I: The Oaks Buildings F, B and D continue to lead with reductions ranging from 8.8% to 6.9%. Virginia/West made it into the top 5 in week 2, with a reduction of 5.6%.
Buildings Division II: For the second week in a row the Academic Village Kenan Honors Pavilion has posted a reduction of more than 20%. Loy Center A, B, C and the Academic Village Isabella Cannon International Pavilion are close behind with reductions of 16.9% and 16.8%, respectively.
Areas Division I: The Oaks continue to lead the Division I Areas, with a 5.7% reduction. West Area remains close with a 4.5% reduction.
Areas Division II: The Academic Village Pavilions and Loy Center continue to have reductions exceeding the campus-wide reduction goal with 18.3% and 13.4% respectively. Danieley Center follows closely with an 8.9% reduction.
Don’t forget to “Commit to Reduce” on the Building Dashboard to be entered into a prize drawing that will take place at the end of the competition for two bikes and two Phoenix cash prizes.
