In less than two weeks, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ will welcome to campus more than 1,600 new and transfer students as . Helping support the needs of these students and families as they become part of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ community will be ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Guides, a mobile app that’s seen great success since launching in 2015.
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Guides provides information about important events including New Student Orientation, Family Weekend and Homecoming. Some of the features include customizable schedules and to-do list, an interactive campus map, information about on-campus resources, driving directions, social media, and more. Users can also receive push notifications on their smartphones.
For students new to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ and their families, the app will prove to be a valuable resource as they navigate the News Student Orientation and get to know ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s expansive campus, said Matthew Olmsted, assistant director of New Student and Transition Programs. “There are pre-arrival resources that students, parents and guests can use to start to use to help ensure a smooth transition as they arrive at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ,” Olmsted said.
A schedule within the app offers and overview of orientation, and individual events include maps to the locations where they will be held. The schedule can also be customized for first-year students, parents or transfer students. “We’ve tried to make it a little easier for everyone to navigate the master schedule,” Olmsted said.
